This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Ship Construction B.Tech (R13) fifthsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>To impart knowledge to the students on Construction of ships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : SHIP TERMS<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nVarious terms used in ship construction with reference to ship\u2019s parameter e.g. L.B.P.- Moulded Depth &#8211; Moulded draught etc. &#8211; General classification of ships.<br \/>\nStresses in Ship\u2019s structure: Hogging \u2013 Sagging \u2013 Racking \u2013 Pounding \u2013 Panting etc., and Strength members to counteract the same. Sections And Materials Use: Type of sections like angles \u2013 Bulb plates flanged beams used in ship construction \u2013 Process of welding. Riveting &amp; Welding testing of welds \u2013 Fabricated components.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : BOTTOM &amp; SIDE FRAMING<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nDouble bottoms, watertight floors solid and bracket floors \u2013 Longitudinal framing keels \u2013 side framing like tank side brackets \u2013 Beam knee \u2013 Web frame etc., Shell &amp; Decks: Plating systems for shells \u2013 Deck plating &amp; Deck Girders \u2013discontinuities like hatches and other openings \u2013 supporting &amp; closing arrangements \u2013mid-ship section of ships.
