This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Marine Electrical Machines \u2013 II B.Tech (R13) fourthsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>To expose the students to the concepts about Electricity production, measurements, cable faults and AC Machines used in Marine engineering.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTS AND CONTROL SYSTEM<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 [8 hours]<br \/>\nInduction type energy meters-megger (Basic construction &amp; principles of operation only).\u2013 Single phase and three phase wattmeter for power measurement \u2013 Measurement of energy, speed, frequency and phase difference \u2013 Measurement of resistance, inductance and capacitance by Bridge method \u2013 Magnetic measurement. Location of cable faults \u2013 transducers and its application in the measurement of pressure, flow, temperature, Torque, Humidity, Water content etc \u2013 simple electronic measuring devices \u2013 CRO, IC tester, Signal generator, Timers, Multi Tester, Clamp meter-Principle of operation and Application of Automatic control system-PID controller etc.,<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : ALTERNATORS<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 [11 hours]<br \/>\nAlternators \u2013 general arrangement \u2013 construction of salient pole and cylindrical rotor types \u2013 types of stator windings \u2013 e.m.f equation \u2013 distribution and pitch factor \u2013waveform of e.m.f. generated \u2013 rotating magnetic field \u2013 armature reaction \u2013 voltage regulation \u2013 load characteristics \u2013 open circuit and short circuit tests \u2013 e.m.f and m.m.f. methods \u2013 parallel operation of alternators \u2013 KW and KVA sharing \u2013 Brushless alternator \u2013 static excitation system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III : SYNCHRONOUS MOTORS<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 [5 hours]<br \/>\nPrinciple of operation of 3-phase synchronous motor. \u2013 operation of infinite bus bars torque\/angle characteristics \u2013 hunting \u2013 methods of starting \u2013 merits and limits of synchronous motor over others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=ini.istudy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Download iStudy\u00a0Android\u00a0App for complete Anna University syllabus, results, timetables and all other updates.
