This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Marine Engineering Practices Laboratory B.Tech 2016-2017 (R13) fristsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To provide exposure to the students with hands on experience on various basic engineering practices in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GROUP A (CIVIL &amp; MECHANICAL)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I CIVIL ENGINEERING PRACTICE<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 [10 hours]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Buildings:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Study of plumbing and carpentry components of residential and industrial<br \/>\nbuildings. Safety aspects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plumbing Works:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Study of pipeline joints, its location and functions: valves, taps, couplings, unions, reducers, elbows in household fittings.<br \/>\n(b) Study of pipe connections requirements for pumps and turbines.<br \/>\n(c) Preparation of plumbing line sketches for water supply and sewage works.<br \/>\n(d) Hands-on-exercise: Basic pipe connections \u2013 Mixed pipe material connection \u2013 Pipe connections with different joining components.<br \/>\n(e) Demonstration of plumbing requirements of high-rise buildings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carpentry using Power Tools only:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Study of the joints in roofs, doors, windows and furniture.<br \/>\n(b) Hands-on-exercise:<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wood work, joints by sawing, planing and cutting.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>II MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PRACTICE 20<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Welding:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Preparation of arc welding of butt joints, lap joints and tee joints.<br \/>\n(b) Gas welding practice<\/li>\n<li><strong>Basic Machining:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Simple Turning and Taper turning<br \/>\n(b) Drilling Practice<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sheet Metal Work:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Forming &amp; Bending:<br \/>\n(b) Model making \u2013 Trays, funnels, cones etc.<br \/>\n(c) Different type of joints.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Machine assembly practice:<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Study of centrifugal pump<br \/>\n(b) Study of air conditioner<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fitting \u2013 Exercises \u2013 Preparation of square fitting and vee \u2013 fitting models Smithy and foundry<\/strong><br \/>\n(a) Smithy operations, upsetting, swaging, setting down and bending.
