This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Manufacturing Technology B.Tech 2016-2017 (R13) thirdsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The automobile components such as piston, connecting rod, crankshaft, engine block, front axle,\u00a0frame, body etc., are manufactured by various types of production processes involving casting,\u00a0welding, machining, metal forming, power metallurgy etc. Hence B.E. Automobile Engineering\u00a0students must study this course Production Technology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : CASTING \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0[8 hours]<br \/>\nCasting types, procedure to make sand mould, types of core making, moulding tools, machine\u00a0moulding, special moulding processes \u2013 CO2 moulding; shell moulding, investment moulding,\u00a0permanent mould casting, pressure die casting, centrifugal casting, continuous casting, casting\u00a0defects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : WELDING<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[8 hours]<br \/>\nClassification of welding processes. Principles of Oxy-acetylene gas welding. A.C metal arc welding,\u00a0resistance welding, submerged arc welding, tungsten inert gas welding, metal inert gas welding,\u00a0plasma arc welding, thermit welding, electron beam welding, laser beam welding, defects in welding,\u00a0soldering and brazing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III : MACHINING<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0[13 hours]<br \/>\nGeneral principles (with schematic diagrams only) of working and commonly performed operations in\u00a0the following machines: Lathe, Shaper, Planer, Horizontal milling machine, Universal drilling machine,\u00a0Cylindrical grinding machine, Capstan and Turret lathe. Basics of CNC machines.
