Combustion Stoichiometry of hydrocarbon fuels \u2013 Chemical energy and heat of reaction calculations \u2013 Chemical equilibrium and adiabatic flame temperature calculation. Theory of SI and CI engine combustion \u2013 Flame velocity and area of flame front. Fuel spray characteristics \u2013 droplet size, depth of penetration and atomization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : ENGINE CYCLE ANALYSIS \u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[8 hours]<br \/>\nIdeal air, fuel air cycle and actual cycle analysis. Progressive combustion analysis in SI engines. Parametric studies on work output, efficiency and other engine performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III : COMBUSTION MODELLING<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[10 hours]<br \/>\nBasic concepts of engine simulation \u2013 Governing equations, Classification of engine models- Thermodynamic models for Intake and exhaust flow process \u2013 Quasi steady flow &#8211; Filling and emptying &#8211; Gas dynamic Models.
