This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Aero Engineering Thermodynamics B.Tech 2016-2017 (R13) thirdsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To achieve an understanding of principles of thermodynamics and to be able to use it in\u00a0accounting for the bulk behavior of the simple physical systems.<\/li>\n<li>To provide in-depth study of thermodynamic principles, thermodynamics of state, basic\u00a0thermodynamic relations, Properties of pure substances<\/li>\n<li>To enlighten the basic concepts of heat transfer and propulsion cycles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : BASIC CONCEPT AND FIRST LAW<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 [9 hours]<br \/>\nConcept of continuum, macroscopic approach, thermodynamic systems \u2013 closed, open and isolated.\u00a0Property, state, path and process, quasi-static process, work, modes of work, Zeroth law of\u00a0thermodynamics- concept of temperature and heat, internal energy, specific heat capacities, enthalpy\u00a0&#8211; concept of ideal and real gases. First law of thermodynamics &#8211; applications to closed and open\u00a0systems &#8211; steady flow processes with reference to various thermal equipments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : SECOND LAW AND ENTROPY \u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nSecond law of thermodynamics \u2013 kelvin planck and clausius statements of second law.
