This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>Environmental Geoinformatics B.Tech (R13) seventhsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The objective of this course is to expose the students to the applications of Remote\u00a0Sensing and GIS for water quality assessment, soil degradation assessment and\u00a0monitoring pollution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : WATER AND THE ENVIRONMENT<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 [9 hours]<br \/>\nSources and demands of water &#8211; Characteristics of water- Point and non-point sources of after\u00a0pollution &#8211; Spectral responses of clear and contaminated water &#8211; chlorophyll- Remote Sensing\u00a0of Water quality assessment &#8211; Classification of water quality for various purposes, Sampling\u00a0procedure, quality analysis, Data base creation and quality modeling using GIS. Database\u00a0Creation and designing water supply network, sewerage network using GIS. Runoff\u00a0estimation- flood prediction modeling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : SOIL CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nTaxonomical classification of soils, sampling, soil survey interpretation and mapping, impact of\u00a0agricultural and industrial activity on soil properties.
