This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Power System Dynamics B.Tech (R13) eighthsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To introduce the basics of dynamics and stability problems<\/li>\n<li>To educate on modeling of synchronous machines<\/li>\n<li>To educate on the excitation system and speed-governing controllers.<\/li>\n<li>To study small signal stability of a single-machine infinite bus system with excitation system and\u00a0power system stabilizer.<\/li>\n<li>To educate on the transient stability simulation of multi machine power system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : INTRODUCTION<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nBasics of system dynamics \u2013 numerical techniques \u2013 introduction to software packages to study the\u00a0responses. Concept and importance of power system stability in the operation and design &#8211; distinction\u00a0between transient and dynamic stability &#8211; complexity of stability problem in large system \u2013 necessity\u00a0for reduced models &#8211; stability of interconnected systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : SYNCHRONOUS MACHINE MODELLING<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nSynchronous machine &#8211; flux linkage equations &#8211; Park\u2019s transformation &#8211; per unit conversion &#8211;\u00a0normalizing the equations &#8211; equivalent circuit &#8211; current space model &#8211; flux linkage state space model.\u00a0Sub-transient and transient inductances &#8211; time constants. Simplified models (one axis and constant\u00a0flux linkage) &#8211; steady state equations and phasor diagrams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III : MACHINE CONTROLLERS<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[9 hours]<br \/>\nExciter and voltage regulators &#8211; function and types of excitation systems &#8211; typical excitation system\u00a0configuration &#8211; block diagram and state space representation of IEEE type 1 excitation system &#8211;\u00a0saturation function &#8211; stabilizing circuit.
