In the year 2009, I tried rank NIT based on Research and especially considered Computer Science and Electronics departments. Last whole year I spend in collecting data about NITs, like AIEEE opening and closing ranks, GATE cutoff scores faculty and placement statistics to make ranking as close as possible. I also made a list of Top AIEEE colleges exclusive of opening and closing rank in AIEEE, and hope this is useful for students preparing for counseling.
There are another 10 new NITs announced and will accept admissions this year. I recommend new NITs when compared to old state universities. The reasons are same are I mentioned in New IITs Vs old NITs and universities.

This ranking is mostly influenced by AIEEE opening and closing ranks. I considered All India rank for open categories and for three different departments. Based on two simple mathematical formulas and took faculty qualification in two different departments. I feel placements are great in most of the NITs. This is absolutely stupid.
How can you presume to judge colleges simply by ranks?
Opening and closing ranks depend on the decisions made by students who are just out of school and who know nothing about engineering education.
You have not considered the faculty, infrastructure, placements, research work, extra-curricular activities, etc. and instead based your ranking on the decisions of fresh school pass-outs alone.
What you have actually done is :
1. Ignored the very colleges you have chosen to rank
2. Outsourced your ranking task to a bunch of kids who nothing about engineering
This is very similar to conducting among school students an opinion poll titled “Which is your favourite college?” and then publishing the results in the form of college rankings.
Grow up, man.

still its not relevant vnit should be on 5th position nd all d stats regarding d coll. prove it so pls rectify it as fast as possible calicut is way better ranked dan it deserves d cutoffs of calicut tell its true story no home state comp. i think ranking of vnit and calicut should be changed rest all okk….

iam doing Civil Engineering(final year) here at nitk surathkal, and iam supposed to know a little more then u above listed pals.
i met most of the guys from other nits and iits, and i myself visited a lot of campuses.
guys, choose NITK surathkal as ur prefernce 1(through aieee), obs trichy and warangal are in competition but the life u get here is at par,
private beach, 7 floor mega hostels (16 hostels), awesome crowd during college festivals, goa gokarna 4 hrs drive, no hostel timings, wow placements ( single guy gets 4 offers from four diff. companies). single hostel room, chill profs, good grades, classy food.
and smthng to remember after u finish !! ! m/ cheers to NITK, Surathkal.

there could be a human error or may be ur analysis software malfunctioned
NIT SILCHAR has given a placement records of somewhere close to 250%.
