In the year 2009, I tried rank NIT based on Research and especially considered Computer Science and Electronics departments. Last whole year I spend in collecting data about NITs, like AIEEE opening and closing ranks, GATE cutoff scores faculty and placement statistics to make ranking as close as possible. I also made a list of Top AIEEE colleges exclusive of opening and closing rank in AIEEE, and hope this is useful for students preparing for counseling.
There are another 10 new NITs announced and will accept admissions this year. I recommend new NITs when compared to old state universities. The reasons are same are I mentioned in New IITs Vs old NITs and universities.

This ranking is mostly influenced by AIEEE opening and closing ranks. I considered All India rank for open categories and for three different departments. Based on two simple mathematical formulas and took faculty qualification in two different departments. I feel placements are great in most of the NITs. i stay in hyd and my rank is 5647…i havent been placed in NIT warangal so far but i got EEE in NIT nagpur what do i do? this was the third counselling and for the fifth i will have to surrender my seat, wherever i get, if i wish to go to NIT warangal only…what should i do? ECE NIT nagpur seems reachable quite easily in the next round…one more thing…NIT calicut as you say is better than NIT nagpur but in some other rankings its not ranked so highly…why so? NIT calicut also seems reachable…answer soon..
all i want to know is suppose i choose NIT nagpur over NIT calicut, will i regret it?over that, nagpur’s closer to my home than calicut…also, my IIT ranking is such that i wont get any seat in old IITs do i make another attempt? does brand value matter so much?
why is it that companies like google and amazon go to NIT calicut and not NIT nagpur for placements when bot are just equally good(might be little difference)

these rankings are not at all authentic …..how can you allege like this..???one must mention criteria or the dimensions on which these rankings are being given…AS WE KNOW SOUTHINDIA IS LIKE AN ENGINEERS HUB…BUT WE CANNOT SAY THAT THE NITS THAT R IN SOUTH R GOOD..THERE IS NO HARM IN ACCEPTING THIS TRUTH…BUT UNFORTUNATELY OTHER PART COLLEGES REALLY SUFFER FROM THIS POINT….LETS GET ON!!!

Genius: Sorry I didnt get you point. The criteria is clearly given in the above paragraphs. And all the NITs are ranked based on AIEEE cutoffs mainly and GATE, placement data is also considered when available from authentic sources. These are best possible ranking of NITs that could ever happened, I considered the criteria that best for students.
I ALSO WANT 2 SAY “WHY THE HELL RESERVATION IS GIVEN TO SC ST OBC STUDENTS/…………..THATS REALLY SICKKKKKK IT DOES MAKE ANY SENSE GETTING IT IN SURATHKAL……BY SO CALLED RESERVATION!!!!!

I don’t know on what facts and analysis are these rankings based…….
But from the most basic point of view of students, regarding placements, I ,being a student of NIT Allahabad , would like to add a fact that during current session, barely one and a half months have passed and about 70 % batch of Computer sc. at my college has got placed in renowed firms with an avg. pay package of 7.8 lakhs..
I think thats not a bad statistics.
