NIT Rourkela was established in 1961 by government of India in Orissa. The campus is spread over 2.62 km² with a great educational infrastructure.

Eligibility:
The candidates should have B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. or equivalent degree in the discipline as mentioned above with not less than 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination. There is no relaxation in academic requirement for any category / caste of candidates.
The candidates appearing B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. (final semester) examination may also apply for the above course. However, they have to produce their mark sheet showing 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in aggregate latest by 30th September 2009, failing which their admission will stand canceled. Such student must produce a certificate signed by the Principal or Registrar of the College last attended stating that all examinations including practical necessary for award of the degree have been completed in order to be eligible for admission.
Selection will be strictly based on GATE Score. In case GATE qualified candidates are not available, admission may be given to other candidates on the basis of marks secured in qualifying degree and a written and /or oral examination.

Publication of list of applicants in the Institute website : 25th May 2009 (Monday)
Publication of 1st merit list for M.Tech. counseling in the Institute website : 1st June 2009 (Monday)
Counseling and admission to M.Tech Programmes for 1st merit list : 12th June 2009 (Friday)
Publication of vacancy position in M.Tech. after 1st Counseling : 18th June 2009 (Thursday)
Counseling for spot admission for GATE and written and/or interview for non-GATE/ sponsored M.Tech. applicants : 29th June 2009 (Monday)
Registration and starting of class for the 1st Semester of all programmes : 20th July, 2009 (Monday)

Rozalin Raut: Right after BCA you are not eligible for M.Tech. Either you should have a four years degree of master degree in sciences, like MCA, MSc computers, MSc Electronics…etc.
