I have done BSc ( Maths, Physics) and done MBA Through distance learning. Now i want to go for PHD Operational research. Am i eligible for that after doing MA Maths (Private).

I would like to know, i am 3nd year of MCA from burdwan university. I want to do Phd in CSE from IISC Bangalore i have a GATE score 99.03% and i am belongs to SC category. Am i eligible? If yes Can i get chance in IISC. currently i am working as a teacher in govt school. Tell me what are the job oppurtunities for phd because i want to settle my curriare in research.

My name is Iman Zarei. I am from Iran. I hold BSc in Cellular and Molecular biology as well as MSc. in Biochemistry. The latest degree I obtained from University of Pune in 2010. Unfortunately my percentage is not good enough. It is 50.45%. I wonder whether I can apply for PhD in India. Please suggest me something cause getting PhD is very important for me and I am losing my hope. If anyone knows any place in India where my percentage would be accepted, please let me know. Thanks

I have few questions. Perhaps you could answer them in your article if not here. I’m currently doing MTech in Thermal Systems Design from NIT Surat. I have an inclination to be in research area with a particular field in Mech Engg. Although current nationwide situation (through my friends’ feedbacks) is not really encouraging. I feel that we do not have extensive emphasis on research here in India.

In spite of securing a higher degree, like MTech/ME from reputed institutes like NITs (IITs are exceptions), and the marking system not being uniform nationwide, employers still look for eligibility in terms of BE marks. There are not many private research institutes in India. This is a bit discouraging. Again the academics/research is not fully integrated with industry and current developments in India. Is it really worth going for a PhD, espacially when I’m not interested in “Teaching” ? How does a PhD from US (or any other country) affect research prospects in India, I do not wish to settle outside India.

Can you enlighten me ?

I am working as assistant professor in a private engg college at indore( M.P.) . I have M.Engg. in computer engg.I am having 11 years of teaching experience.

I want to go for Phd in computer engg so to move up in my academic carrier. I am not a meritorius student, but i can work hard if guided.

i saw ur blog and seen all the questions by many people and noticed that u replied for the queries..so let me ask my doubt.I completed my M Tech Degree recently and i am working as Lecturer in an Engg college now..After B Tech i worked for 2 years and then i went for M Tech.So for getting a hike in the teaching field PhD is also needed.so i have a plan to do PhD as part time..Can u plz guide me.Now i am in Pune..and most probably will shift to Mysore soon.It depends on my husband’s job…..

I completed M.Tech from recognsied institute in 2006 and am doing Ph.D from Gulbarga university,Gulbarga. But I have dout that after completion of my Ph.D,the certificate which we get from the university is valid for Engineering colleges.
